Sentimental Sundays CD Review/Interview:
Deborah Flores |
|
Welcome
to the stage, Deborah Flores! Deborah
born and raised in San Francisco,
started singing and performing Country
n' Western, branching out "into singing
from my soul when I was just 13. I did
Military shows, dance shows, I was hired
by The Hilton Corporation and did [a lot
of ] performing!
Step Aside, is Deborah's
first solo project and she is
mesmerized in awe at the reality of
what she has produced. Deborah
reflected on an "out of the body ...
is this really happening?"
experience, when she came to realize
Step Aside as a reality.
Step Aside Deborah- and let Step
Aside work its magic on the world's
lovers of good music!
Encompassing classic cover tunes,
Deborah's sultry-sexy-suave' vocals
and the incredible musicianship from
players like Marcus Miller and
Nathan Brown, Randy Jacobs and Mark
Hulls, to Eric Marienthal and Jason
Weber and Jeff McCullough... to name
JUST a few... Step Aside is a love
piece. A piece of honest emotions
that asks all the right questions
and makes all the appropriate
statements about love and the heart.
Where it's going, where has the
heart been and all the places it has
no business being but wan ts to go
anyway...
Step Aside houses Deborah's vocals
on Stevie Wonder's Do I Do,
where she bravely and respectfully
indulges the classic tune, revealing
the soulful edge in her vocals.
George Gershwin and Ira
Gershwin's Classic, The Man I Love,
recorded live, gives Deborah the
feedback every vocalist desires
after portraying such a classic. "The Man
I Love is the only track we
recorded live... and once we
finished the audience 'WOW 'd!"
If you do not know The Man I Love
like a vocalist knows the Man I
Love...may I introduce you to Step
Aside? Flores reveals the honesty
and time, the classic ballad
deserves... Remember that sweet
tune, Dream on Dreamer... Deborah
lends a sweet tone to the timely
piece and registers it well with the
timbre only she could produce.
Deborah admits, "though I love
smooth jazz, I have R & B built in
me." The wanton of R&B exudes
through her vocals and pays homage
to the likes of her all-time
favorites Ella Fitzgerald and Chaka
Khan... "I love the creativity in
her voice."
Deborah speaks very highly of the
players on Step Aside and is
eternally grateful to have worked
with such great musicians who are
notably some of the finest! She
extends her gratitude to the radio
stations who have aired Step Aside
and is elated with "being able to
express what comes from my heart...
my core belief [is that] God
has20always wanted me to use what he
has given me." Well said Deborah!
